TASHKENT, March 29. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, the newly appointed Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov has held his first briefing for local and foreign journalists, at the National Press Centre, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

Media representatives were briefed on the official international events with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan this week.

“The transparency of state institutions and freedom of speech in our society is one of the results of the reforms conducted by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Deriving from this policy of transparency of our President, from now on we will meet frequently” said Sherzod Asadov.

As it was noted, today the delegation of Hungary headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban will arrive in Uzbekistan on an official visit.

Dialogues with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take place tomorrow, 30 March, at the Kuksaroy Residence. The sides will discuss the development of political, trade, economic, investment, financial and technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

The main expectation from the results of the talks is to bring Uzbek-Hungarian relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

As for trade and economic relations, we have established contacts at various levels. Hungary and Uzbekistan had several delegations’ exchanges.

Last year, despite the challenging conditions associated with the pandemic, mutual trade amounted to 9 million. Undoubtedly, this indicator is lower than the existing potential. Therefore, a further increase in trade turnover by several-fold is one of the main issues that the leaders will discuss. Along with this, there are a lot of still untapped opportunities. For their implementation, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Hungarian Business Council is hosted in Tashkent today.

According to the Presidential Press Secretary, about 10 documents on the economy, energy, education, culture, interregional cooperation and employment are expected to be signed during the visit.

Prime Minister Mr. Viktor Orban is scheduled to visit scientific and heritage sites. The visit will end on March 31.

As it was noted at the briefing, in the foreseeable future, another international event will be held – the informal summit of the Turkic Council.

The summit was to be held on March 31 in the city of Turkestan, Kazakhstan. The event will take place on the appointed day, but in a different format. Taking into account the epidemiological situation, the summit was decided to be held in a videoconference format.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend and address the summit.

The leaders will consider the draft Strategy of the Turkic Council for 2020-2025 and other documents. Following the summit, it is planned to adopt the Turkestan Declaration of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.
