The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar discussed the development of trade relations, the implementation of industrial cooperation projects, as well as holding of joint economic events

TASHKENT, April 12. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, met with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, in Doha, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed the development of trade relations, the implementation of industrial cooperation projects, as well as holding of joint economic events.

The Qatari side was provided with extensive information about the large-scale economic reforms carried out under the leadership of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the creation of favorable conditions for investment activities, including in free economic zones, and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Confirming the existence of huge unrealized potential for the development of cooperation, the Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar stressed the need for intensifying trade relations and investment cooperation in all sectors of the economy of mutual interest.

The Qatari side expressed interest in working out joint investment projects, primarily on the production of food products and ensuring food security, and participation in the development of Uzbekistan's tourism infrastructure.

Agreements were reached on the preparation for the meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and on intensifying direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
