The Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Qatar held bilateral talks in Tashkent

TASHKENT, June 9. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, this is the first official visit of Qatar’s Foreign Minister to Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as collaboration between the parties within the framework of international structures.

The schedule and organizational aspects of the upcoming official meetings at various levels were considered.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts to advance the peace process in Afghanistan and restore its socio-economic infrastructure.

The main attention was paid to the participation of the Qatari side in the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” to be held on July 15-16, 2021 in Tashkent.

Following the talks, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the State of Qatar on air communication, which provides for the opening of direct flights on the Doha-Tashkent-Doha route.
