The Ambassador of Uzbekistan has assumed the duties of Chairman of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the ECO member States

TEHRAN, February 10. /“Dunyo” IA/. The first meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization member States (ECO CPR) was held in the capital of Iran under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The 261st meeting of the ECO CPR was attended by Permanent Representatives of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, as well as the Secretary General of the organization and responsible staff of the ECO Secretariat.

In accordance with the ECO rules and procedures, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran Bahodir Abdullayev assumed the duties of the Chairman of the CPR.

In his speech, Ambassador Abdullayev announced the goals and objectives of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the ECO.

It was noted that Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the ECO will be carried out under the motto "2022 is the Year of Strengthening interconnectedness" in accordance with the "ECO – 2025 Prospects", as well as plans and programs on priority areas of cooperation adopted within the organization.

The Uzbek diplomat stressed that during the 15th Summit of the Heads of the ECO States on November 2021, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of relevant and promising initiatives that can effectively contribute to the development of multilateral partnership to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the ECO member states.

ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri congratulated Ambassador Bahodir Abdullayev on assuming the post of the new Chairman of the CPR. The ECO Secretary General expressed confidence that the chairmanship of Uzbekistan will certainly help the Council to support and accelerate joint actions to expand regional cooperation.
