Tashkent hosted OECD conference on the effective development of energy, water and land resources in Central Asia

TASHKENT, October 19. /“Dunyo” IA/. Tashkent hosted a conference “The high-level dialogue for the effective development of energy, water and land resources in Central Asia”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the event was organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety as a preparatory stage for the launch of the OECD-initiated four-year project “Energy-water-land use nexus in Central Asia”.

The goal of the project, which is planned to be launched in 2022, is to develop effective tools for attracting private investment for the implementation of projects related to increasing the efficiency of the use of energy, water and land resources. 

At the conference, presentations were made, revealing the current environmental situation in Central Asia after the negative effects of climate change, as well as the mission of the proposed four-year project and its role in the socio-economic development of the region.

Foreign experts stressed that the project will help the Central Asian countries accelerate the recovery of economic activity in the post-COVID period through an integrated and rational approach to the use of energy, water and land resources.
