Tashkent and Bukhara to host International Forum “Dialogue of Declarations”

TASHKENT, May 14. /“Dunyo” IA/. International Forum “Dialogue of Declarations” will be held in Tashkent and Bukhara on 16-20 May. It is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan jointly with the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE), reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event will be attended by more than 30 prominent theologians, religious scholars and officials from about 10 countries, including the United States, England, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Nigeria and Ghana.

During the Forum, three workshops are scheduled to be held in Tashkent on May 16-17. The participants will exchange experience on ensuring interfaith dialogue in a multinational society, review Uzbekistan's experience and best practices in strengthening the rule of law in ensuring freedom of religion, strengthening mutual trust and respect between representatives of different religions.

On May 18, a trip to Samarkand will be organized for the Forum participants, covering the most significant sights of this city.

On May 19, the main event of the Forum “Dialogue of Declarations” will be held in Bukhara, during which the results of scientific-practical workshops will be summed up, as well as, views will be exchanged on issues of ensuring freedom of religion and interreligious dialogue. Prospects for further cooperation will be outlined.

It is also planned to present and discuss the essence and significance of the Mecca, Marrakesh, Jakarta, Potomac, Punta del Este declarations adopted in 2016-2020 to approve the ideas of religious tolerance, freedom of religion at the international level.

Following the event, the Bukhara Declaration will be adopted, which, based on the Uzbek experience, will call on the international community to affirm the principles of enlightenment and religious tolerance throughout the world, as well as to strengthen dialogue between different religions.
