Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan and Ambassador of Japan discussed issues related in the Afghan direction

TASHKENT, November 9. / Dunyo IA. On November 6, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Yoshinori Fujiyama, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The parties discussed issues related to the settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan, as well as prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the Afghan direction.

The Japanese side expressed its readiness to continue actively contributing to establishment of long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan and restoration of its socio-economic infrastructure in the interests of the entire Afghan people.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of major projects in Afghanistan, such as the construction of Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul Railway Line with the access to Pakistan ports, as well as Surkhan – Puli-Khumri Power Transmission Line.

The Japanese Ambassador showed great interest in the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced during the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly to create a Permanent UN Committee on Afghanistan.
