Tashkent hosted a press conference dedicated to the results of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of India in 2024.

The event, organized by the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan, was attended by media representatives.

At the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan, Ms. Smita Pant, noted that friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries have a long history, and at present, these warm relations continue to strengthen.

As noted at the event, the deep and historical ties between India and Uzbekistan create a solid foundation for friendship between the two countries’ peoples. Strategic partnership is developing in many areas. In October last year, our leaders met as part of the BRICS Summit in Kazan. The talks covered issues of enhancing multifaceted cooperation.

In addition, Ms. Smita Pant drew attention to the most important aspects of interaction between the parties in 2024.

According to preliminary data from the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan for January-November 2024, the volume of trade turnover amounted to 7.4 million. This figure is expected to reach 0 million by the end of 2024.

The Embassy actively supports the exchange of business delegations between the two countries. Uzbekistan delegations took part in exhibitions in India in industries such as textile, agriculture, healthcare, metallurgy, electronics, and handicrafts. Indian delegations visited exhibitions and symposia in Tashkent dedicated to tourism, oil and gas, energy, textile industry, healthcare, agricultural production, medical equipment, media, and mining.

The Embassy of India, in cooperation with the Uzbekkino National Agency, organized a five-day Indian Film Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Raj Kapoor. In addition, significant work was carried out to expand the tourism potential between our countries. In 2024, about 70 thousand Indian tourists visited Uzbekistan, which is the result of the work carried out in this direction, – the Ambassador noted.

As noted, comprehensive cooperation between India and Uzbekistan is consistently developing in many areas. The interaction covers trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, defense, and tourism spheres. This strengthens the centuries-old ties between the two countries’ peoples. The increase in the volume of mutual trade, the growth in the number of joint projects, and the emergence of cultural cooperation to a new level during 2024 indicate a high level of solidarity and mutual support between the two states.
