TASHKENT, January 20. /“Dunyo” IA/. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his speech addressed to the members of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis touched on the priority issues, informs the correspondent of “Dunyo” IA, with the reference to the Press-service of the President.

“Deputy, first of all, should be informed about everyday problems of the nation and showcase dedication in offering solutions; it [deputy] has to set an example. If deputies will stay passionate and devoted to their mission, ministers and administration will follow their example,” said the President.

As stated during the event, the lower chamber should evolve to a “school of democracy”, a platform for objective debates and discussions over every bill in the spirit of diversity of opinions.

Within the last five years, the chamber has revived: it reviewed 540 bills which is twice as much compare to 2010-2014. Legislative chamber adopted Civil Procedural Code, Economic Procedural Code, Code of Administrative Judicial Procedure and Electoral Code.

The chamber injected the public discussion practice on every bill presented to the deputies. Over 1 000 legal provisions of 400 bills were improved based on people’s proposals. Following the feedback of the nation, 16 thousand bills were returned for further enhancement. In the meantime, in 2010-2014 no bill was given back for provision.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that deputies should bear in mind the relevancy of laws; they should be in line with nation’s interests.

“You, as representatives of the people, should be courageous, demanding and decisive. A deputy shouldn’t adopt the law if doesn’t serve the interests of the nation. Each law is a living organism. It has to have its power and deliver the result. The law has to change the lives of the people for better,” highlighted the President.
