On July 19, 2019, Tashkent hosted the first round of Uzbekistan – Georgia inter-MFA consultations on consular issues.
Georgia’s delegation led by Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Tabatadze arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the consultations.
During the consultations, the parties discussed the state and prospects of development of bilateral relations in consular sphere, as well as issues of expanding cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in migration, legal assistance in civil, family and criminal cases. The parties also exchanged experience in issuing electronic visas, registration of identification cards, introduction of modern technologies in consular sphere and use of the Institute of Honorary Consuls.
Following the negotiations, a Protocol of consular consultations was signed, regulating the implementation of agreements reached in consular-legal sphere by concerned ministries and agencies of the two countries.
