On January 24, 2018, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in.
The Head of our state cordially congratulated the President Moon Jae-in on his birthday, highlighting his important role and great contribution to the development of relations of friendship and strategic partnership, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
It was emphasized with deep satisfaction that historical fruitful meetings and negotiations at the highest level in Seoul, held last year in November, have laid a solid foundation for expansion of multifaceted interaction and filled bilateral relations with specific practical content.
President Moon Jae-in expressed sincere gratitude to President of Uzbekistan for the warm greetings and wishes. It was emphasized that “in the person of the Head of our state he has found a true adherent, friend and supporter of comprehensive strengthening of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea”.
The leader of the Republic of Korea highly appreciated the Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the country’s Parliament that was made for the first time in the history of modern Uzbekistan. Proximity of key tasks and main goals of the new stage of reforms in Uzbekistan and South Korea was emphasized.
During the conversation, the colleagues thoroughly discussed issues of further expanding Uzbek-Korean cooperation, exchanged views on current issues of international and regional agenda.
Special attention was paid to active involvement of the Korean advanced experience, knowledge and technologies in modernization of industry and infrastructure, social sector development in the Republic.
The Head of the Republic of Korea sincerely congratulated multinational people of Uzbekistan with an impressive game of youth football team and reaching the final of the Asian Cup that is being held in the People’s Republic of China these days.
In turn, the President of Uzbekistan sincerely wished the leadership and people of the Republic of Korea successful conduction of the upcoming Winter Olympic games in Pyeongсhang, which will surely go down in the history of world sport, will become a real celebration of friendship and mutual understanding.
In conclusion, the heads of states reaffirmed strong commitment to fully develop and strengthen the centuries-old friendship ties and traditionally close partnership between the two countries and people.
