On September 3, 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov held a videoconference with the Deputy Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau, Deputy Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Shuichi Tokuda, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The state and prospects of development of Uzbekistan – Japan relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres were discussed at the meeting.
The parties considered the schedule of the upcoming events at various levels. In particular, views were exchanged on holding a meeting of Uzbekistan – Japan and Japan – Uzbekistan Committees on Economic Cooperation, as well as the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to the issues of maintaining high dynamics of bilateral cooperation in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. It was proposed to jointly develop safe mechanisms for resuming mutual exchanges and trips to further implement investment projects.
Current issues of Uzbekistan – Japan relations within the framework of international organizations and structures were also discussed.
