On March 6, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, in Tashkent.
At the meeting, issues of Uzbekistan – Luxembourg agenda and prospects for expanding cooperation, including within the framework of the UN and other international organizations, were discussed.
As it was noted, Uzbekistan regards Luxembourg as a reliable partner in Europe and attaches great importance to development of cooperation in Uzbekistan – EU format, taking into account the active role of Luxembourg in Uzbekistan – European relations.
Minister Jean Asselborn remembered with warm words his visit to Uzbekistan on March 28-29, 2010 at the head of the official delegation and emphasized that the leadership of Luxembourg attaches great importance to increasing cooperation with Uzbekistan and with Central Asia as a whole.
Views were exchanged on regional issues. In this context, the parties confirmed their interest in peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the ministers also considered issues of enhancing cooperation in tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
