MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF UZBEKISTAN ATTENDS THE CFM OIC SESSION

On March 1, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (CFM OIC), in Abu Dhabi.

In his speech at the plenary session, the Minister noted that Uzbekistan is interested in developing comprehensive cooperation with the OIC and its institutions, considering them as platforms for the equal dialogue of Muslim states.

 Abdulaziz Kamilov expressed the position of Uzbekistan on key issues included in the agenda of the CFM OIC, including on promoting the full launch of a peace settlement in Afghanistan. In particular, Tashkent will host Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VIII) in the second half of this year in order to further enhance cooperation on Afghanistan.

 The Minister empahsized that today Uzbekistan is reaching a qualitatively new level of relations with the OIC in the fields of science, technology and education.

 Abdulaziz Kamilov expressed his gratitude to the OIC member states for supporting the proposals of Uzbekistan, which were included in the resolutions of this session devoted to Afghanistan, the fight against Islamophobia, countering terrorism and prevention of extremism, enlightenment and religious tolerance, as well as International Day against Nuclear Tests and Aral Sea Rehabilitation.
