On January 3, 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Dilyor Khakimov held negotiations with the President of the International Union of Judicial Officers Marc Schmitz.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged assessments regarding the expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the International Union of Judicial Officers. Uzbekistan became a full member of this organization in May 2018.

The President of the International Union of Judicial Officers highly appreciated the course of judicial-legal reforms in Uzbekistan, which were given new impetus in the reports of the Head of the state on the Constitution Day and in the Address to the chambers of the Oliy Majlis in December 2018.

Marc Schmitz called fruitful the results of the visit of the delegation of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by its Director Bоtir Kudratkhodjayev to attend the meeting of the Permanent Council of the International Union of Judicial Officers, which was held on November 22-24, 2018 in Paris.

The parties confirmed that in conditions of increasing globalization, individual countries are evaluated through the prism of effectiveness of national legal systems as the most important factor of competitiveness and investment attractiveness. All this is directly related to the judicial and the jurisdictional system as a whole, including the sphere of enforcement proceedings, since they create the legal image of the state, its attractiveness as a place of doing business.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, following the meeting, Marc Schmitz reaffirmed his readiness to lead the International Union of Judicial Officers delegation at Tashkent Law Spring international legal forum to be held in Tashkent on April 11-13, 2019.
