Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov has met with the Head of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Azam bin Baki, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The Malaysian side was informed in detail about large-scale reforms being undertaken in Uzbekistan aimed at preventing and combating corruption, eliminating corruption-causing factors in all spheres of state and public construction, as well as about main provisions of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On combating corruption” of 2017 and information about newly created Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).
Speaking about MACC's activities, the interlocutor noted that the Commission strives to ensure the rule of law and educate public against corruption with an emphasis on preventive measures to eliminate this type of crime in Malaysia based on the principles of independence, transparency and professionalism.
Azam bin Baki expressed the readiness of MACC to establish cooperation with ACA and provide expert advice for effective functioning of this agency.
Following the negotiations, agreements were reached on organization of a videoconference between the leadership of ACA and MACC to discuss cooperation issues, including by sharing best practices to improve methods of combating corruption, development and signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between ACA and MACC, involvement of MACC experts on a remote basis for conducting thematic events (webinars and master classes) for representatives of ACA.
