Head of the Mission of Uzbekistan to the European Union Dilyor Khakimov met with the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council, Riina Kionka.
At the meeting, the European side highly appreciated the results of the recent visit of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk to Uzbekistan and his negotiations with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during which the establishment of constructive and productive practical cooperation in political, trade-economic, innovation, scientific-technical, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres was noted.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of joint work on the draft Agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
Riina Kionka emphasized the EU's interest in supporting the UN Multi-partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region. In this regard, it was decided to allocate 5 million Euros to finance projects within this Fund.
The European side stressed that the EU attaches great importance to cooperation with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries, as evidenced by the adoption of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia on June 17, 2019.
