Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed by phone the progress of implementation of previously reached bilateral agreements

TASHKENT, March 29. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-yong, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, Abdulaziz Kamilov congratulated Chung Eui-yong on his appointment as the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea and wished him success in his new post.

The ministers discussed the state and prospects of multifaceted strategic partnership. The parties expressed their readiness to unite efforts to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

The sides highly appreciated the results of the online summit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, which was held on 28 January 2021. In this context, the importance of implementing the agreements reached by the heads of state was emphasized.

The priority nature of trade-economic and investment relations, issues of developing economic cooperation by increasing the trade turnover and continuing the implementation of projects with the participation of South Korean investors and financial structures were noted.

The schedule and agenda of the upcoming joint events at various levels were considered.

The Ministers also exchanged views and noted the similarity of approaches and positions of the parties on international and regional issues.

Following the conversation, Uzbekistan’s FM invited his colleague to the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” to be held in July this year in Tashkent.
