Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and UK hold inter-MFA political consultations

TASHKENT, December 11. /Dunyo IA/. On December 9-10, 2020, Uzbekistan – British political consultations took place via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov and UK Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Wendy Morton.

The event from the Uzbek side was also attended by representatives of the ministries of finance, justice, defense, Uzhydromet, the State Committee for Ecology, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of the Quality of Education, the National Center for Human Rights of Uzbekistan, the head of Uzbekistan diplomatic mission in London.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, tourism, investment, scientific and educational, cultural, humanitarian, environmental and other spheres.

Measures to diversify the structure of bilateral trade, intensify the activities of Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council was analyzed in detail.

Main attention was paid to the current aspects of interaction within the UN and its structures, other international organizations.

Proposals were considered for holding the forthcoming joint events at various levels, improving the legal framework for cooperation, and developing inter-parliamentary dialogue.
