TASHKENT, March 8. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov has met with the ECO Secretary General Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour, in Tehran, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ECO, exchanged views on joint activities, in particular, holding the next meeting of the ministers of agriculture and tourism of the organization’s member states in 2021 in Uzbekistan.
The main attention was paid to the practical aspects of the implementation of the initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 14th ECO Summit, which was held on March 4 via videoconference.
The ECO Secretary General emphasized that the proposals of the President of Uzbekistan aroused great interest and support in the member countries of the organization.
It was emphasized that in recent years, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the member countries of the organization has increased by one and a half times and amounted to billion. About 5 thousand enterprises of the ECO member countries operate in Uzbekistan.
The ECO Secretary General has been invited to the upcoming High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.
