Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and FAO Director-General discussed priority areas of cooperation

TASHKENT, February 4. /“Dunyo” IA/. On 2 February, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the MFA, the parties highly appreciated the level and dynamics of cooperation. The mechanisms for implementing the results and recommendations of the 32nd Meeting of the Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia, which was held in November 2020, via videoconference, under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan, were discussed.

The priority nature of cooperation in modernization and diversification of agriculture, rational use of water and land resources was noted.

Special attention was paid to practical issues of promoting the effective chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the European Regional Conference in 2021-2022, as well as enhancing the participation of Uzbekistan in international and regional initiatives in agriculture and food.

The official ceremony of awarding the FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu with “O’zbekiston Respublikasi Qishloq Ho’jaligi Fidoyisi” badge for his significant contribution to the development of agriculture and rural regions of Uzbekistan, as well as cooperation between the country and organization, also took place at the event.
