A cement plant in Sherabad district was commissioned last year. Another such production was organized this year in Jarkurgan district by the foreign enterprise Surkhoncementinvest. Modern equipment from Germany, Austria, Russia and China has been installed here.
The total cost of the project is almost 144 million dollars, its first stage has been completed. After reaching the full capacity, the plant will produce 1.1 million tons and export 750 thousand tons of cement per year, will employ 1,125 people.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with activities of the enterprise.
“Surkhandarya region has enormous economic opportunities. There are many underground wealth, there are almost all the elements of the periodic table. We must effectively use this for the benefit of our people”, the President said.
In the future, it is planned to organize production of dry construction mixtures, hydrated lime, reinforced concrete products with involvement of more than 12 million USD investment.
Presentation of projects was held on development of industry, small business and private entrepreneurship in the region, improvement of drinking water supply and sewage systems, expansion of production and export of building materials.
Responsible persons were given instructions for construction of 9-12-story houses in each district of the region, the development of Denau’s economy and organization of a free economic zone there, the increase of the export potential and investment attractiveness of Surkhandarya.
