Abdulaziz Kamilov receives the EU Special Representative for Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 December 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, who arrived in Tashkent to participate in a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and Italy.

The results of the bilateral and interregional negotiations with the EU held in November were discussed. Mutual interest was expressed in the further development of political, diplomatic, trade, economic and investment cooperation, the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as the implementation of joint new social projects with the European Union and its member states in the Aral Sea region.

An exchange of views took place on the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming events at various levels and formats, including the holding in Uzbekistan in 2022 of the first ministerial conference of the EU and Central Asia on strengthening connectivity and sustainable development.

The talks also considered certain issues of the regional and international agenda, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
