President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the Oliy Majlis on December 29.

The event, held at the International Congress Center in the capital, was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, heads of public organizations, and representatives of the wider public.

Traditional since 2017, it is the most important socio-political event in the country. It helps to outline key points of the outgoing year and sum it up, as well as determine the goals and objectives for the new year. Therefore, Uzbekistan people look forward to this event with great interest.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the Address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan this year, unlike previous years, is taking place in a difficult environment. In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has stress-tested the world. It was emphasized that this is the largest disaster on a global scale, many people became its victims, millions of jobs were lost, the economies of countries faced great difficulties.

Unfortunately, the pandemic brought unexpected and difficult problems. Moreover, natural disasters and man-made disasters in Bukhara and Sardoba became another test for the country.

Thanks to the unyielding will, selfless work, and steadfastness of our people, the joint efforts of the population and state bodies, we courageously overcome all these trials.

The head of the state noted that starting from the first days of the pandemic, the entire control system was transferred to an emergency mode of operation, and in a short time, comprehensive measures were developed and implemented to mitigate and eliminate the consequences of the pandemic.

The President expressed gratitude to the noble Uzbekistan people, who lived and worked in compliance with the requirements of quarantine, doctors, medical workers devoted to their profession, who courageously fought this dangerous virus day and night, entrepreneurs who extended a helping hand on these difficult days to needy segments of the population, our foreign partners.

In the new year, we need to work selflessly, with greater dedication. There may still be many difficulties in life ahead of us, and we must be ready for this. But no matter how difficult it is, we will not deviate from the path of democratic reforms, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

Following the Address, it was noted that the power and will of our people, which in the current difficult conditions overcomes all trials, are becoming even stronger. Confidence in our strength and capabilities makes us more resilient, uniting on the way to the high goal of forming the foundation of a new Renaissance. This desire inspires our people for great practical deeds and achieving even greater heights in the new year.
