Heads of Central Asian and Russia MFA adopt Strategic Directions of Cooperation Statement

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has taken part in the third meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the Central Asian states and Russia via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The event was also attended by Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan – Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Kyrgyzstan – Ruslan Kazakbayev, Tajikistan – Sirodjiddin Muhriddin, Turkmenistan – Rashid Meredov and Russia – Sergey Lavrov.
 
At the meeting, current issues of further strengthening interaction of the Central Asian countries and Russia in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, transport and communication, energy, migration, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in security, environmental protection, ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being were discussed.

Abdulaziz Kamilov informed the participants of the meeting about the measures being taken in the country aimed at effectively countering coronavirus infection, mitigating the negative consequences of the pandemic on the economy and the social sphere, ensuring employment of the population through the implementation of infrastructure projects in the regions, providing state support to enterprises and national exporters.
 
Special attention was paid to the issues of supporting the peace process in Afghanistan, an important factor of which is considered to be the further involvement of Afghanistan in regional trade and economic cooperation.
 
Following the event, the Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian States and the Russian Federation on Strategic Directions of Cooperation was adopted.
