Employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, Uzbekistan Rice Scientific Research Institute, Scientific and Production Center for Agriculture, the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan held virtual talks with the leadership of China National Rice Research Institute and representatives of Rice Growers Association, leading rice companies.
The progress of the project for creating a joint Uzbekistan – China research center for rice growing was discussed during the negotiations, the Memorandum on which was signed in August 2019 during the 5th meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in Agriculture of Uzbekistan – China Intergovernmental Commission.
The parties also exchanged views on the organization of the visit of farmers and representatives of the rice-growing sector of Uzbekistan to China, the creation of a rice-growing cluster in Karakalpakstan using advanced Chinese technologies for growing rice in salty and arid areas.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on maintaining close interaction between the parties in implementation of joint projects and organizing the upcoming trip of Uzbekistan specialists to China.
