TASHKENT, January 20. /“Dunyo” IA/. In his address at the first meeting of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched on the necessity of enhancing the parliamentary control, informs the correspondent of “Dunyo” IA with reference to the Press-service of the President.
Over the last few years, Uzbekistan injected new control forms and mechanisms. Particularly, “Government Hour” Institute. Within it, members of administration provide answers to the questions of deputies. Moreover, since 2019 the lower chamber is reviewing the members of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Effective parliamentary control will enhance the efficiency of the executive branch. Therefore, we need responsible managers should consistently provide clarifications on the issues of wide discussions in our community,” noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The head of state expressed the necessity of strengthening the control and analytical activity of the committees and other structural units of the chamber.
The Office of the State Budget, created at the lower house, contributes to the effective formation of the budget and the establishment of effective control over its implementation.
Recently, the state has allocated considerable funds to the socio-economic development of the regions. Participation of deputies elected from these territories, however, is imperceptible in the issue of control over their rational and efficient use. There are cases of misuse of allocated funds, theft and corruption.
The necessity of establishing by the people's representatives effective control over the sphere is indicated.
“The Ministry of Finance should report to the people’s representatives for each sum spent from the budget, and in the issue of targeted spending of public funds, all departments should be aware of their responsibility to parliament. The situation will only change if everyone will reckon with the deputies,” the President said.
