Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Head of the Presidential Administration of Afghanistan discuss the progress of multifaceted cooperation

TASHKENT, November 20. /Dunyo IA/. Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Head of the Administration of the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Shaker Kargar, in Tashkent, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the parties discussed the current agenda of bilateral political, trade and economic cooperation, interaction in transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as further measures to deepen Uzbekistan – Afghanistan relations.

Mutual readiness to fulfill the assigned task of bringing the trade turnover up to billion was emphasized.

An agreement was reached to develop and approve a draft agreement on the encouragement and mutual protection of investments between the two countries.

Issues of current interaction and implementation of joint projects in transport and logistics sector were discussed. Development of trans-Afghan transport corridors, establishment of international road links and resumption of regular flights between the two countries, as well as the increase in transit traffic in the region was considered.

Special attention was paid to issues of cooperation in cultural and humanitarian sphere with an emphasis on the educational sector.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly develop and approve the roadmap to deepen cooperation in trade, economic, transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres, indicating specific mechanisms for implementing projects.
