Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed a range of issues related to further strengthening bilateral relations

TASHKENT, November 5. / Dunyo IA/. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea held political consultations via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Furkat Sidikov, and Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kim Gunn.

The event was also attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, heads of diplomatic missions of the two countries in Seoul and Tashkent.

A wide range of issues related to further strengthening bilateral relations, strategic partnership and enhancing multifaceted cooperation, as well as interaction within the framework of international organizations were discussed during the political consultations.

The Uzbek side expressed gratitude for practical assistance provided by the South Korean side in countering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants reviewed the implementation of agreements reached within the framework of high-level contacts, as well as the agenda and other organizational aspects of the upcoming visits and joint events in various formats, in particular regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation and Korea – Central Asia Forum.

Special attention was paid to development of trade-economic, investment, scientific technical relations between the two countries.

Specific proposals to activate the inter-parliamentary dialogue, develop cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and labor migration were also considered at the meeting.
