The Zarafshan-Qoraqum Corridor of the Great Silk Road is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List

«Dunyo» IA/. This year, the 45th extended session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee takes place from 10 to 25 September in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Zarafshan-Qoraqum Corridor of the Great Silk Road was included in this list at the meeting.

 “The Silk Road. The Zarafshan-Qoraqum Corridor”, included in the World Heritage List, consists of 31 sites located on the territory of 3 states. 9 are in Tajikistan, 15 are in Uzbekistan, and the rest are in Turkmenistan.

All objects from different periods are located on one of the most important trade routes in history – the Silk Road and demonstrate a long history and rich cultural and historical heritage.

Uzbekistan participated as a project coordinator to present the nomination “Zarafshan-Qoraqum Corridor of the Great Silk Road”.
