An exhibition featuring the works of artist Inge Schmidt and photographer Krzysztof Plaza, dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, has opened in Berlin. The event was organized by Q Gallery Berlin in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan
The event was attended by officials of Germany, members of the public, art and culture enthusiasts, as well as representatives of the media.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov opened the event with a welcoming speech, expressing gratitude to artist Inge Hildebrandt Schmidt and photographer Krzysztof Plaza for capturing the beauty of Uzbekistan's nature and its historical and cultural monuments. He noted that the country's rich history, cultural heritage, and centuries-old art attract travelers from around the world.
The exhibition's creators stated that they recognized the three jewels of the East — Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva — not only as important geographical locations but also as cultural centers that played a significant role in the history of the Great Silk Road.
Themes of identity, memory, and connection to nature are central to the works on display, which blend elements of traditional and contemporary art. These pieces not only provide aesthetic pleasure to visitors but also offer deep insights into the history and daily life of Uzbekistan.
During the event, poetry was performed in Uzbek and German, alongside national dances and traditional dishes. Informational materials highlighting Uzbekistan's tourism potential further enriched the cultural experience of the attendees.
It is worth noting that a special meeting with the artist and photographer will be held on November 15 as part of the exhibition. During this meeting, Inge Schmidt and Krzysztof Plaza will share detailed insights about their travels in Uzbekistan this year and the work they produced as a result. They will also answer questions from participants interested in visiting Uzbekistan as tourists.
"We visited Uzbekistan as tourists during our journey through Central Asia", said artist Inge Schmidt. "We were struck by the beauty of the ancient cities along the Great Silk Road. We plan to return to Uzbekistan, with our next destination being the Fergana Valley".
"The Q Gallery has once again succeeded in bridging East and West through this exhibition of the works of artist I. Schmidt and photographer K. Plaza", noted the exhibition organizer, lawyer Parviz Yazdani. – "The gallery hosts many exhibitions about Silk Road countries, but today we are particularly pleased to launch this exhibition dedicated to Uzbekistan. I believe that we will hold many more artistic exhibitions focused on Uzbekistan in the future".
The exhibition will run until November 19.
