BAKU HOSTS A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE TURKIC COUNCIL

On October 14, Baku hosted a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.

The event was attended by foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Secretary General of the Turkic Council and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary were also among the participants of the meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan congratulated the delegation of Uzbekistan on the entry into the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States. He noted that with participation of Uzbekistan, the organization, having expanded territorially, as well as in terms of existing potential, has become a significant platform in the international arena.

Foreign ministers discussed issues that will be considered by the heads of states at the summit of the Turkic Council. Views were exchanged on the Declaration of the Seventh Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, the Joint Statement of the Heads of States of the Turkic Council on the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the organization, the Decision on awarding the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev the status of life-time Honorary Chairman of the Turkic Council.

Other issues related to the organization’s activities were discussed at the event.

A memorandum on the entry of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan into the Joint Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry was signed at the business forum. Uzavtosanoat JSC, Uzeltechsanoat, Uzcharmpoyabzal and other enterprises have reached a number of promising agreements with the Azerbaijani side.
