Great attention is being paid in our country to raising the population’s spiritual and intellectual potential, especially that of the youth. The tradition of book reading, peculiar to our nation, and information-explanatory work aimed at raising the culture of reading among the population play a major role in this process.



This was noted at the opening of the “Kitob dunyosi” (The World of Books) complex in Ferghana, which sells socio-political, scientific-popular literature, fiction and manuals published in our country. A number of conveniences have been created in the complex for its visiting readers.


“Everybody was happy about the opening of a book store on the Chestnut Street. This complex will serve the cause of raising the spirituality of people and comprehensive upbringing of our children,” says head of the Ferghana regional branch of the Association of Uzbekistani writers Enakhon Siddiqova.


A new book complex “Namangan kitob olami” has also been commissioned in Namangan.


Taking part at the ceremony of its opening were officials of the Government and public organizations, prominent writers and poets, scientists, publishers, art workers, labor veterans, the youth and reporters.


“Close attention is being paid in our country to raising the role and significance of book reading in the spiritual and moral upbringing of the youth and satisfying the intellectual needs of the population,” said head of the Namangan regional directorate on publishing and information Ziyovuddin Mansurov. “The new book complex is called upon to serve the achievement of namely these objectives.”


The ground floor of this four-storied building accommodates a small reading hall and a café. The first floor houses a book store where more than 30 thousand books in the sections on socio-political, spiritual-enlightenment, literary-fiction, scientific-popular subjects and literature for children are displayed for sale. All conditions have been created for young families and parents. There is a special children’s corner operating in the complex. Foreign languages study center and a printing office are planned to be opened on the third and fourth floors of the complex by the end of this year.
